ATTENDEE FAQ'S
Frequently asked questions
This retreat is considered all-inclusive, meaning that your accommodations, all meals and refreshments, all art workshops, planned tours/adventures/outings around the area, any guest speakers, and transportation to/from the airport and other activities are all included in the price of the retreat. Additionally, wine service is included with dinner each evening.
Accommodations: For this retreat king/queen and twin-sized beds are available on a first come, first serve basis and are priced accordingly. Several cabins offer guest rooms with two separate twin beds that will house two retreat participants at a lower price--please take this into consideration before you book your trip. Should you wish to have single room accommodations, please select that option when you book the retreat.
Any items you wish to purchase outside of the all-inclusive retreat parameters will not be included--such as any shopping in town or any additional food or supplies that you purchase. Wine is included with dinner, but is not available during the day so as to encourage full participation in the workshops. Travel/trip insurance is not included in the price of this retreat. All participants are required to purchase separate travel/trip insurance before the retreat. Because we have a no cancellation policy, should you be unable to attend after booking, we will be unable to give you a refund. Please consider this carefully when booking. Airfare is not included in the price of the retreat and is the sole responsibility of the participant. Retreat participants are responsible for arriving at the pre-determined pick-up/meeting spot on the first day of the retreat. All efforts should be made to be at the arranged place (usually the nearest commercial airport to the retreat venue) and time for provided transfer to the retreat venue. The pre-arranged place and pick-up time will be sent via email notification once the retreat becomes guaranteed. Should you miss this pick-up time and location, all due effort will be made to assist you in arriving at the venue, but pick-up will not be guaranteed and may be the participant's responsibility to arrange transportation.
No, we do not offer payment plans. When you book a retreat, you will be charged 25% of the total retreat cost as a deposit that will reserve your spot until the retreat becomes guaranteed, meaning that it has met the minimum enrollment required to run the retreat successfully. Once the retreat becomes guaranteed, you will be notified via email that you will then be charged the remainder of the amount for the cost of the retreat.
As we value your safety, comfort, and satisfaction, all due efforts will be made to accommodate participant needs. Please make sure that you notify us as soon as possible for any dietary restrictions, food allergies, or other needed accommodations. All meals will have vegetarian options. Please note that some of the accommodations will be reachable via steps and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. Additionally, outings such as tours or light hiking will involve walking and being on your feet for sustained periods. If you have questions about physical requirements, please contact us as soon as possible. While you are not required to participate in any of the events or outings, we highly encourage full participation in order to enjoy the retreat experience to the fullest. Refunds for non-participation are not allowed. If you have questions about how we might be able to assist you, please reach out to us before booking your retreat.
As we have limited spaces, only those who participate in the retreats are allowed.
Once you book the retreat, you will receive an email with a detailed list of: supplies, weather and location-appropriate clothing and shoes, any location-specific thing like bug spray or toiletries, and a list of specific art supplies provided by the workshop leader via email. We will also include general temperature ranges for that location/time of year to help inform you as you pack.
It does get cool at night. Please bring a sweatshirt or layering clothes.
We have a no cancellation policy once the retreat becomes guaranteed--meaning it has met the minimum requirements to run successfully.
Should you need to cancel before the retreat becomes guaranteed, you will not be charged the full amount of the retreat, but deposits are not refundable.
Trip insurance is required for our retreats because we do not offer cancellation refunds. Should the retreat be cancelled for extraneous circumstances (natural disasters or other uncontrollable emergencies) all participants will be refunded the full amount of the retreat.
Wine service is included with every dinner but is not offered during the day to encourage participants to fully enjoy the workshops and planned outings. All participants are expected to comport themselves in a socially appropriate manner at all times. House of Athena Creative Retreats reserves the right to revoke retreat access due to bad behavior such as intoxication, threatening, or disruptive behavior. Guests who pose civil or social threats to any retreat participant, the venue property, or House of Athena Creative Retreats staff will be asked to leave without reimbursement. Additionally, we reserve the right to refuse future booking if you have been removed from a previous retreat.
A guaranteed retreat is a one that has met minimum participant requirements to be run successfully. Before a retreat becomes guaranteed, you will only be charged the deposit of 25% of the retreat cost at the time of booking, which secures your spot in the retreat.
Should a retreat not become guaranteed it will be cancelled, and you will receive your full deposit as a refund. Once the retreat becomes guaranteed, you will be notified via email that you will then be charged the remaining 75% cost of the retreat. Cancellations at that point are not allowed, so make sure that you also purchase required travel/trip insurance.

Planning on partial participation is not permitted, as we have planned each retreat for a specific number of guests, including accommodations, food, and outings.
Absolutely not. In some instances there may be co-ed cabin mates, but never mixed gendered room assignments unless booked as a couple. If you feel uncomfortable sharing a cabin with a different gender, please note this on the Booking Waiver Form.
